HOCKEY World Cup 2014

Australia retained the men’s hockey World Cup title by outplaying Olympic silver medallists The Netherlands 6-1 in the final at the Kyocera Stadium at The Hague, Netherlands. Before Australia clinched their second successive World Cup, Germany was the only nation to have won two consecutive times.

Argentina defeated England 2-0 to clinch the men’s bronze medal. This was the first men’s World Cup medal for Argentina.

The women’s World Cup trophy was back in Dutch hands after they extended their record haul of titles to seven by beating Australia 2-0 in the final. Winners of the last two Olympics, the Netherlands regained the World Cup it last won in 2006.

Women’s defending champions Argentina won the third place match by defeating the United States.

The 2018 event will be hosted held at London, England.
