He won a commanding majority in Parliament on 7 September 2013, on a platform to scrap taxes on carbon pollution and iron ore and coal mine profits. After the previous Labour government switched Prime Ministers twice in three years, Conservative party leader Abbott has promised a methodical government with no surprises.
Erna Solberg: Norwegian centre-right leader she has become the new Prime Minister of Norway, after Labour Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg admitted election defeat. Ms Solberg described her win as “a historic election victory for the right-wing parties”.
