Indian girls beat England on penalties to win bronze at FIH Junior Hockey World Cup
Indian girls beat England 3-2 (1-1) on penalties to get a well deserved bronze medal in the Junior Women’s hockey World Cup currently going on in Monchengladbach, Germany.
Rani opened the scoring for India with a field goal in the 13th minute to put the girls in blue 1-0 ahead. The score stayed put at half-time.
Anna Toman then struck back for England with another field goal in the 55th minute to level the score at 1-1 even as time was fast ticking down.
Both teams then tried hard to break the deadlock but nothing came out of the efforts in the next 15 minutes and the game went into a penalty shootout.
In the penalty shootout, the normal-time goalscorers for both the teams came out first.
