MUMBAI: A benchmark index for Indian markets Tuesday provisionally closed 232 points higher with metals, energy and realty stocks leading the gainers.
The 30-scrip sensitive index ( Sensex) of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) opened at 17,680.23 points, closed at 17,820.14 (provisional), 232.47 points or 1.32 percent compared to its previous close at 17,587.67 points.
The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange also closed in the positive at 5,433.30 points, up 74.2 points or 1.38 percent from its previous close.
