MCCP

 The MCX Certified Commodity Professional (MCCP) programme offered by MCX is for those who want to participate in the commodity derivatives market. On successful completion of the programme, the candidates will earn an ‘MCCP’ or ‘MCX Certified Commodity Professional’ certificate

The MCCP certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of issue. All members and dealers registered with MCX are mandated to have all their members or dealers take MCCP examination or have at least one person in their office to have passed the MCCP examination (as per MCX circular no. MCX/423/2005).The Certification belongs to the individual and hence provides your career a fillip.

The programme focuses on the modalities of trading in commodity markets, its operations and practices, clearing, settlement and delivery procedures, and its regulatory and legal framework.. Specially designed study material is provided to all candidates who register for the test.

Registered candidates must take the MCCP examination at any one of the approved test centres, and score a minimum 50 per cent to clear the exam. The test comprises 50 questions, which need to be answered in 90 minutes. Incorrect answers get negative scores, and unattempted answers get no marks.

What is the scope of the MCCP programme?

The programme will acquaint the participants with the modalities of the commodity markets in India, including regulatory framework; exchange operations, such as trading, clearing and settlement; and delivery procedures.

Topics overview

Module 1 gives an overview of the commodity derivatives market, takes a look at the Indian scenario and regulatory framework and discusses some of the international exchanges.

Module 2 broadly deals with the various aspects of risk management in the derivatives market, which includes market types, hedging concepts and mechanisms, and arbitrage and spreads. The module also includes a chapter on technical analysis and options.

Module 3 details the functioning of the futures derivative exchange. It takes the learner through market operations; and clearing, settlement, and delivery; it gives a fairly complete view of the various functions of the trader workstation; and deals with taxation and accounting in the derivatives market.

Module 4 focuses on warehousing and innovative products.

 There are two modes of learning for this course:
 Distance learning, where you register, study on your own, and appear for the online examination at your chosen test centre within six months of your registration. 
  1. The classroom training model, where experts teach you the MCCP course over two days at MCX, Mumbai. You have to take the online examination within six months of your registration at your chosen test centre.
