Ford India to recall 20,700 faulty ECO Sport SUV
N’Delhi: Ford India will recall 20,700 units of Eco Sport SUV over potential problems related to airbag deployment as well as technical glitches in fuel and vapour line corrosion. This is the second time that the US auto major has called back their units produced in India after Fiesta Sedan in recent times. The vehicles that are being called back are those manufactured between January 2013 and September 2014 at the company’s Chennai plant.
“The safety of our customers is always top priority at Ford… we have initiated a Field Service Action to correct product concerns on 20,752 EcoSport vehicles in India. This is a proactive, voluntary recall action to ensure customers’ safety and satisfaction,” the company said.
The vehicles that are being called back are those manufactured between January 2013 and September 2014 at the company’s Chennai plant. Ford said there were concerns of fuel and vapour line corrosion in the long-term. “The company will also check the vehicles for re-orienting wiring harness related to the correct deployment of side airbags.”
